Frequently asked questions
Q: Is a wireless alarm system affected by CB’s, Taxis or similar ?
A: Not with 433Mhz Radio signals, which our systems operate on.
Q: Where should I locate the PIR detectors to get the best protection ?
A: In the corner of the room, approx 2.4 meters from the floor.
Q: Can I have two entry zones for the back door and front door ?
A: Yes, you can have more than one Entry/Exit zone.
Q: How far can I put a PIR away from the Main control Panel ?
A: In most installations they will work up to 100m away from the main control panel in open space.
Q: Can I change the entry and exit time ?
A: You can have 10,20,30 etc up to 70 seconds in increments of 10 for entry and exit access.
Q: If I purchase a GSM system. Will I need anything else ?
A: Yes you will need to purchase a sim card on a casual plan from a telecommunications carrier. Telstra charges $10 per mth for this service, Optus $9 per mth. Vodafone have a 12mth prepaid sim card for $30. Also you require good mobile phone coverage in your area.
Q: In the event of a power failure will I have to re-program the control panel ?
A: Our systems incorporate a non-volatile memory (NVM) that will hold any information indefinitely.
Q: Can I have my system armed while I am asleep at night ?
A: Yes you can. You can set the system in Home Arm Mode allowing you movement inside your house while safe from outside intruders.
Q: What length of time will the sirens sound for ?
A: You can adjust the sirens to sound for 3,5 or 10 minutes.
Q: Will my alarm system re-arm itself after an alarm activation ?
A: Yes after the sirens stop sounding the system will resume full arm mode.
Q: Could someone else use their remote controller to operate my system ?
A: No only controllers that have been programmed into your system can be used to operate it.
Q: Are all the detectors and sirens protected against unauthorized removal ?
A: PIR's, door / window contacts, keypads and all sirens are fitted with anti-tamper switches. If any component is vandalized or tampered with an audible alarm will be triggered even if the system is unarmed.This feature can be disabled to allow batteries to be replaced etc.
Q: How many PIR's,door contacts,water sensors,sirens etc can I have added to my system ?
A: You can program into the main control panel up to 20 different components in any configuration to suit your requirements.
Q: How do I know if one of the detectors has batteries that are just about flat ?
A: Due to some very clever electronics,the main control panel will display a low battery warning 1 month in advance of complete battery exhaustion, relating to sensor in question.

G'day Michael,
I thought I’d drop you a line explaining a recent experience of mine. I’ve noticed you don’t have a story like this on your website as yet.
It all happened back in late January this year. I was out at a friend’s birthday party enjoying dinner around 8.30 pm,when I received a burglar message from my alarm system. Obviously I was very concerned and left the party immediately and headed straight home, to find my next door neighbour Bob out the front of his house with all his outside lights switched on.
We had spoken about what we would do in the event of the alarm system being activated.We both walked around the back of my house and noticed the back door wide open. The intruder was long gone by this stage, thanks to Bob’s actions by making some noise and switching on the lights.
No forced entry on the back door, yeah you guessed it I hadn’t even locked it. All we had taken was some loose change in a dish on the kitchen bench.
Can you work on a sensor for me Michael that will let me know if I haven’t turned the lock with the key Ha! Ha!

After recently purchasing an Ezy Security alarm system, I feel so much safer, knowing my possessions are secure. Having been robbed twice in my life let me tell you the feeling is sickening. Now even at night I have the garage sensor on, and it is at least 20m away from the house so even all my tools and car are safe at night. I even sleep better now knowing my possessions are safe. I have been living in rental accommodation for the past 8 months in a Sydney suburb going to Uni with premises on both sides of my unit broken into.

Hi Michael,
You may not remember me,I purchased an emergency alert system from you back in October 04.
It was bought for my mother who is aged 82 and in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Many times we have tried to relocate her to a nursing home but to no avail. She is determined to see out her remaining years staying put in her own home.

Thank you Ezy security for a great alarm system. I purchased a gsm unit from you and I love it. I think being able to arm and disarm it with my mobile phone is fantastic.
Let me tell you about an incident we had a few months ago.
As part of my original system I opted for a water sensor as well. This particular day I was at work when I received an sms message on my mobile phone notifying me of a water leak in our laundry.
Luckily my office is only a kilometre from home, so I rushed off straight away. Not thinking to disarm the system I rushed in through the front door, off went the alarm again and found a leaking valve on our hot water system.
Fortunately all the water was contained to the laundry itself with no damage to carpet outside the door. What a fantastic little device, I would recommend it to anyone as part of their wireless alarm system.
As a matter of fact if you check your records I have since phoned up and ordered another water sensor to put under my sink next to the dishwasher.

I thought I’d write a quick email to thank you for your prompt reply to all my security questions.
I wanted something a bit different to the normal wired in systems when I decided to purchase a DIY alarm. I actually have a business college who had his home phone line cut by a burglar.
Unfortunately he ended up having his home ransacked for the simple reason, all he had was a dummy external siren fitted under his eaves.
